The Association of British Insurers (ABI) has issued guidance on motor and home insurance.
The group is providing reassurance to the public and key workers who are doing their bit for the country. For those who cannot work from home, the ABI confirms that cover will remain whilst driving to and from work.
Hopefully, if volunteers are doing their bit for the community and driving to transport groceries or medicines as long as there is no ‘hire or reward element’ (i.e. getting paid) then drivers do not need additional cover.
Lastly, if key workers have to drive to different locations for work purposes, cover will not be affected.
Our advice is always to try and contact your insurer if you can, and have a paper or email trail to inform your insurer if you are doing anything different during these testing times.
