The Future of Renting – What the Renters’ Rights Bill Means for Landlords
This Bill represents one of the most impactful shifts in the private rented sector in over 30 years
With the recent introduction of the Renters’ Rights Bill by the new Labour government, big changes are on the horizon for the private rented sector. This seminar will cover the Bill’s key elements, including the proposed abolition of Section 21 notices, rental bidding practices, and the new Decent Homes Standard.
Following the recent General Election and significant political changes, the new Labour government introduced the Renters’ Rights Bill on September 11, 2024, as a response to the earlier Renters (Reform) Bill. This Bill represents one of the most impactful shifts in the private rented sector in recent years and has sparked lively discussion in both Parliament and the press.
As the draft Bill progresses through Parliament, currently at the House of Commons, we are gaining clearer insights into the anticipated changes. During this talk, we aim to provide an overview of the key updates, practical guidance on steps you may wish to consider now, and answers to any questions you might have.
We invite you to join us on Wednesday 22 January, at the Bishop’s Stortford Golf Club from 9:30am to 11:00am for a free seminar designed for landlords and property managers, as we discuss the Renters’ Rights Bill and particularly:
- The abolition of Section 21 notices
- Future grounds for possession
- Considerations for issuing Section 21 notices now
- Rental bidding practices
- The Decent Homes Standard and ‘Awaab’s Law’
- Disrepair responsibilities
- Selective and mandatory licensing requirements
