Our accredited family mediator, Zen Thompson, is part of the Family Mediation Voucher Scheme. The scheme was launched in 2021 but has recently received additional Government funding to help more families reach a resolution through mediation rather than via the court process.
What is the Family Mediation Voucher Scheme?
The scheme is designed to support families who may be able to resolve their disputes without going to court.
The scheme can provide up to £500 towards the cost of mediation where issues include child arrangements. There is no financial eligibility criteria, but the scheme is limited to around 2,000 mediations across the country, and so is likely to go quickly.
Only mediators authorised by the Family Mediation Council (FMC) are taking part in the voucher scheme.
What is Mediation?
The aim of mediation is to find a solution that meets the need of the whole family, without the need to go to court.
A trained independent mediator will support you and another participant (e.g. an ex-partner) in working out arrangements concerning children, finances or property.
How to Apply for the Family Mediation Voucher Scheme
You can book an appointment with us by completing our online Mediation Information and Assessment Meeting (MIAM) contact form. Following this, a member of our team will contact you with the relevant information and discuss your next steps.
At your MIAM, we will discuss the scheme with you if your case is eligible. If you are eligible for the voucher and decide to proceed with mediation, we will apply for the voucher on your behalf.
Zen has already helped many families through this scheme and is happy to discuss with you whether this scheme is relevant to your situation.
