Next Monday marks the beginning of Family Mediation Week (18-22 January 2021), which aims to raise awareness of the benefits of mediation for separating couples.
Throughout Family Mediation Week, the Family Mediation Council will be sharing information about family mediation to help people understand more about how it works, when it might be suitable, the importance of involving older children in the process of deciding what happens to them, and how it can be funded – including through legal aid.
The campaign is being launched on Monday 18 January at 9.15am on Zoom. The launch will be hosted with John Taylor and will include messages of support from Justice Minister Alex Chalk MP and Mrs Justice Theis, the senior Family Division Liaison Judge.

There are additional activities throughout the week, including a mock mediation seminar, virtual coffee mornings and a co-parenting app demonstration.
In the midst of the current uncertainties of this lockdown, both for parents and children, mediation can be an effective way to resolve matters quickly and effectively. It can also promote positive communication between families and put children at the heart of the family.
Nockolds is pleased to support Family Mediation Week and has several mediators throughout the firm. Zen Thompson, Senior Associate in our Family Law Team, is an accredited mediator with the Family Mediation Council and is on their Professional Practice Consultant advisory panel.
