Last weekend (18th May), a group of 31 Nockolds employees, family and friends took part in a gruelling trek along the Norfolk coastal path in aid of Nockolds’ Charity of the Year.
Over the course of two days, the Team covered 45-miles of coastline to raise funds for Steph’s Wishes, a Hertfordshire-based charity that provides ‘Memory Days’ to young adults who have been diagnosed with recurring or terminal cancer.
The first day saw the Team start at Cromer Pier and finish in Wells-next-the-Sea. The route, anticipated to be 20-miles long, was in fact around 24-miles and took nine hours to complete.
On the second day the challenge continued, beginning in Hunstanton and ending in Wells-next-the-Sea. The Team remained in high spirits throughout, and managed to finish the remainder of the walk in eight hours.
Kirstie Philpott, a member of Nockolds’ Charity Committee, commented: ‘When we set off, I don’t think any of us realised just how much of a challenge this would be.
‘The views were picturesque, but the walk was very tough and a lot longer than anyone was expecting. Unfortunately, this meant that some people suffered injuries along the way and just couldn’t do any more – which meant that 11 of us made it to the finish line.’
Darren Hayward, the firm’s Managing Partner who also took part in the walk, said: ‘I am incredibly proud of everyone who took part in this challenge over the weekend. We are lucky to have such strong support from everyone here at Nockolds, which is demonstrated by how much effort went into organising this event and how many people came along to take part’.
The Team is hoping to raise £2,000 from the walk and donations are still being accepted until 19th August 2019. If you would like to donate, please visit: https://mydonate.bt.com/fundraisers/nockoldscoastalchallenge
